I think I might declare this finished. At any rate, I'm going to to leave it for a few days and then come back to it. It didn't turn out too badly in the end, though I don't think I'll be using this type of paper for drawing on again. I had to resort to using my .3mm mechanical pencil to get into the small crevices in the paper!
Dave, I think you did a great job on this, I find it very good and charming!- I like the subtle tones of the skin and also the variation of the darker and lighter areas. Really well done!!!
ReplyDeleteIt has a wonderfully kind softness to it Dave, which I think is amazing considering the surface you chose to work with.
ReplyDeleteI agree with above comments...there is gentleness to your drawing which is beautiful. Great work.

Dave, this is a beautiful portrait of your wife. She looks so serene. Well done for persevering!
ReplyDeleteI almost missed this one! It it absolutely lovely, Dave. You have captured an expression from your beautiful wife that really draws one in. I find a hot pressed watercolour paper - like Fabriano is beautiful to work on for graphite portraits - I lift my errors off with Blu Tack.
ReplyDeleteI don't know, I think this is a great portrait, but I'm partial to textured paper. I love the pose, she looks so relaxed and happy. The pencil work on the face itself is really wonderful.
